These questions are designed to get you started. Whenever you get to something interesting, practice asking “why?” a couple of times. We are big believers in the 5 Why’s framework to help you get to first principles problem solving. When you are interviewing a teammate, make sure to ask why they do things.

- What is your zone of genius?
- What is going well? What is your leader doing well?
- What isn’t going well?
- What is one small change your leader could make that would be a major improvement?
- What daily or weekly tasks take the most amount of your time?
- Pick anything! The more manual the easier it is to automate and the more frequently you do it, the higher impact the improvements will be.
- What is the worst part of your job? What takes the most energy for you to complete?
- What will help you do your job better? (Or, what will help you love your job even more?)
- What have I missed that you’d like to bring up/share?
